Department for Social Integration of People with Disabilities, Special Needs, and Internally Displaced People

In 2012, CYNC established the Department for Social Integration of People with Disabilities, Special Needs and Internally Displaced People (DCI).  Within the framework of the “Youth Festival 2016,” the DCI implements two main programs: “CYNC Week” and “Become strong and change.”

“CYNC Week”

CYNC Camping

Goal: to stimulate students’ interest in camping activities.

Description: During 2016, 140 young people from Tbilisi City will enhance their capacity for decision-making during an emergency by learning to orient themselves to an unfamiliar environment and becoming interested in camping activities. Within the project:

  • trainings will be delivered in schools and the Center;
  • 7 outdoor activities in Armazi Valley;
  • Photo exhibition, during which all partner organizations will be invited.

In the scope of the project, the Center will promote camping and healthy lifestyle by producing video tutorials. The video will be available on social media and on the webpage of the Center.

 

CYNC Week in Pankisi

Goal: to raise civic awareness among youth aged 13-14 living in the rural areas of Georgia.

Description: The CYNC Week is held in Pankisi Valley and Tbilisi, and continues for five days, the first three of which is dedicated to the following topics:

  • Personal development;
  • Children’s rights / rights of people with disabilities;
  • Participation;

The five-day program will be followed by a two-day tour to Tbilisi where participants will visit local sightseen and the Center. At the end of the project, participants will be awarded with certificates.

 

CYNC Network

Goal: to establish interregional coordination cell of the local municipalities with CYNC with a view to valorizing the issues of people with disabilities and adjusting government services to meet their needs.

Description: In the scope of the program, representatives of 64 municipalities, provinces and 10 employees of the Center will attend two-day training on the following topics:

  • Principles of network governance;
  • Organizational development;
  • Needs assessment and its importance in program design.

After finishing the training, representatives of municipalities and provinces will be requested to conduct a needs assessment of people with disabilities, special needs and internally displaced individuals, and to engage in active networking with representatives of local executive offices. In September, the Center organizes online conference in which all participants of the project present interim reports and express the concept of future actions. In November, the Center will organize a forum in which participants will present final evaluation of their works and completed action plan which municipalities will integrate in the activities of the following year.

 

Social Video

Goal: to raise social awareness of the rights of children and adolescents with goal to protecting them which implies concern for their interest, safeguarding them from discrimination, providing equal opportunities and promoting their physical, mental, moral, spiritual and social development.

Description: CYNC invites professionals working in the field of children’s rights or any interested party to produce a video on the subject in question. The video will be broadcasted by public television and broadly disseminated through the social media.

 

Sport Center for People with Special Needs

Goal: to engage adolescents and children in sport activities.

Descriptions: CYNC offers sport classes (Georgian martial arts, Wushu and Karate) to young people and adolescents (socially disadvantaged refugees and ethnic minorities) free of charge. During the program, the Center will organize tournaments for participants.

 

Craft Club

Goal: to support social inclusion of beneficiaries by providing them with different kind of services

Description: The Center will provide crafting classes and workshops (felting, sewing, cross stitching, enameling) to young people with disabilities. In four months after the program, the Center organize an exhibition which will include the sale of artworks produced by the beneficiaries.

 

Free Space

Goal: to promote informal education and free time activities, and to increase civic engagement of adolescents.

Description: beneficiaries of the project attend free trainings/lectures delivered by publicly-known individuals and subject specialists.

 

“Become strong and change!”

Multidisciplinary Commission

Goal: the project aims to develop recommendations for people with disabilities through an individual study plan and learning strategies that are based on their abilities and needs.

Description: young people with disabilities will benefit from professional counselling services and professional orientation.

Multidisciplinary services commissioned by the Center will promote awareness of parents in the matters of professional orientation. Throughout, the project the emphasis will be made on supporting the independent lifestyle of beneficiaries and access to labor market.

 

Statistics and Analysis

Goal: The general populations census aims at collecting data on the key health-related issues of children and young people with disabilities.

Description: The data is gathered with the door-to-door methods with the assistance of local municipality employees.

 

Artishok

The project goal is to promote civic awareness and non-formal education through use of arts and theater. The action is targeted at all young people aged 14-29 interested in theater performances and youth with special needs and internally displaced.

 

Programs and Camps Management Department

The Department of Programs and Camps (DPC) is targeted on a broad group of children and young people living in Georgia as well as outside its borders. Activities carried out by the department are focused on physical education, art, intellectual competitions and general education.

 

Multi genre festival “fanart”

Project location: Tbilisi

Target group: 14-29 years old creatively-gifted young people

Number of beneficiaries: 1500-2000

A week-long art festival was founded by CYNC in 2013 and included ten different types of art.

Goals and objectives:

  • Identification of young talents from all over Georgia;
  • Popularization of art in young people;
  • Delivery of professional consultations and masterclasses to the target group;
  • Support experience sharing activities by professional and well-established musicians.

 

Music Festival “Soundcheck”

Project location: Tbilisi

Target group: 14-29 aged musically gifted young people

Number of beneficiaries: 1000-1500

CYNC held the first Georgian multi-genre music festival in 2013. The getaway fest attracted music lovers of all kinds.

Goals and objectives:

  • Identification of young musical talents from all over the country;
  • Popularization of youth creative work;
  • Delivery of professional consultations and masterclasses to the target group;
  • Experience sharing activities by professional and well-established musicians;
  • Helping the target group to achieve a constructive use of spare time.

 

„Our adventure“ (A literature contest)

Project location: Rabati

Target group: 14-18 talented young people

Number of beneficiaries: 500

Since 2014, CYNC has been organizing literature marathon – Our Adventure, in different regions of Georgia.

Goals and objectives:

  • Identification of young talents from all over the country;
  • Popularization of youth creative work;
  • Selection of 24 adolescent writers for a marathon;
  • Literature marathon in a natural surrounding;
  • Publication of the writings developed by the project participants;
  • Presentation of the publications before the audience of modern Georgian writers;
  • Delivery of professional consultations and masterclasses to the target group.

 

„Create your calendar“(Contest for amateur artists)

Project location: Kvareli

Target group: 12-18 young talented painters

Number of beneficiaries: 300

In 2014, CYNC organized first marathon for amateur painters – Create Your Calendar which is held in different parts of Georgia.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Identification of young talented painters from all over the country;
  • Popularization of youth creative work;
  • Selection of 24 adolescent painters for a marathon;
  • Painting marathon in a natural surrounding;
  • Portrayal of 12 months through the eyes of young people and a calendar with respective graphical depiction;
  • Publication of the calendar developed by project participants
  • Delivery of professional consultations and masterclasses to the target group.

 

„CYNC children’s street football cup“

Project location: Each self-governing city of Georgia

Target group: 14-16 young people who enjoy playing soccer

Number of beneficiaries: 1200-1500

In 2015, CYNC piloted a street soccer cup in Tbilisi, Rustavi and Zugdidi which attracted a large number of soccer fans.

Goals and objectives:

  • Implementation of soccer championship;
  • Popularization of the sport game;
  • Promotion of healthy life-style;
  • Advancing team-building skills and sense of responsibility in youth;
  • Conducting award ceremony to recognize winner team’s achievements.

 

„CYNC Street Basketball Youth Festival“

Project location: in each municipality of Georgia

Target group: 14-16 young people who enjoy playing basketball

Number of beneficiaries: 1000-1200

In 2015, CYNC piloted the street basketball festival in Tbilisi which attracted a large number of young basketball fans.

Goals and objectives:

  • Gather young basketball fans and engage them in tournaments;
  • Popularization of the sport;
  • Promotion of healthy lifestyle;
  • Advancing team-building skills and sense of responsibility in youth;
  • Carry out an award ceremony to recognize winner team’s achievements.

 

„CYNC Breakdance Youth Festival “

Project location: Tbilisi

Target group: 10-29 young people who enjoy breakdancing

Number of beneficiaries: 500-700

CYNC holds breakdance street festival in Tbilisi the goal and objectives of which is to:

  • Gather adolescents who are interested in breakdance for the two-day festival;
  • promote a constructive use of spare time;
  • popularization of healthy lifestyle;
  • support the identification and promotion of talented young people;
  • identify and award the best participants across 8 categories.


Anaklia „Camp of Future“

Project location: Anaklia

Target group: 14-18 outstanding students from public schools

Number of beneficiaries: 2304

In coordination with its implementing partners (Ministry of Labor Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, The Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Diaspora Issues, LEPL Center for Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, National Federation of Children and Young Students of Georgia, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, National Agency of State Property, Intellectual Club – What? Where? When? National Public Broadcaster, Zugdidi Local Municipality), the department carries out the “Camp of Future” in Anaklia.

Goals and Objectives:

  • During summertime, young people are provided with the environment which not only enables them to recreate but also to participate in cultural, educational and sport programs;
  • Nurturing the development of creativity in adolescents;
  • Promote healthy-lifestyle;
  • Promotion of non-formal education;
  • Encourage the cultivation of friendship and exchange of opinions between young people from different regions of Georgia;
  • Support the social integration of children representing ethnic minorities;
  • Encouragement of children from socially disadvantaged, internally displaced families, and families with multiple children;
  • Integration of Georgian immigrant adolescents;
  • Integration of children living under risk conditions;
  • Encouragement of intellectual competitions winners.

Shaori „Camp of Future“

Project location: Shaori

Target group: 14-29 years old young people

Number of beneficiaries: 1280

Goals and objectives:

  • Young people are provided with the environment which not only enables them to recreate but also to participate in cultural, educational and sport programs;
  • Nurturing the development of creativity in adolescents;
  • Promote healthy-lifestyle;
  • Promotion of non-formal education;
  • Encourage the cultivation of friendship and exchange of opinions between young people from different regions of Georgia.

 

Club of Young Rescuers

Project location:  Georgia / Belarus / Azerbaijan

Target group: 14-18 years old public school students

Number of beneficiaries: 30

The project is carried out by CYNC jointly with the Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the framework of a memorandum.

Goals and objectives:

  • Provide adolescents with constructive and useful leisure time opportunity;
  • Involvement of the target group in fire rescue survival trainings;
  • Promotion of strategies for acting in emergency situations and teaching security norms;
  • Support the development of work capacity, creative thinking, and respectful treatment of security materials;
  • Development of general physical wellness;
  • Support the participation of young people in exchange programs related to the club’s goals;
  • Cultural events.
